As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him. He walked along from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father and followed him.

When Jesus calls you do you immediately say yes and follow Him? He wants us to be like the original Apostles. Say yes and He will make you fishers of men. We are all called to bring people to Him. Are you willing?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I answered your call and I am so grateful I did. Saying yes to you is the best thing that has happened in my life. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen!

Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

Jesus said to his disciples: “When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that its desolation is at hand. Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Let those within the city escape from it, and let those in the countryside not enter the city, for these days are the time of punishment when all the Scriptures are fulfilled. Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for a terrible calamity will come upon the earth and a wrathful judgment upon this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken as captives to all the Gentiles; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

“There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.”

You can only “…stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.” If you follow the Lord now. You cannot turn against Him and expect to be taken into heaven. Where do you stand now? Will you be able to stand erect? Or will you be trampled underfoot? It is your choice and you need to make it now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to stand erect when you come, not be trampled. I follow you, love and do my best to serve you. Help me to always follow the path that you have set out for me. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

Blessed are they who are called to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Jesus said to the crowd: “They will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”

We already see the persecution beginning. So many no longer believe in the name of Jesus and His word is hated now as much as when He was on earth. People are trying to force their unbelief on us by banning the name, of God in everyday life. We are called upon to stand up for Him. If you stay in His word, if you believe, you will live. Even if you die on earth. Eternal salvation is yours. What do you stand up for? What do you believe in?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I love you and believe in you and in the word that Jesus gave us. Be with me as I stand for you and speak your word. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!

While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, “All that you see here–the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”

Then they asked him, “Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?” He answered, “See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’ Do not follow them! When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.”  Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.”

Their temple was torn down, and never rebuilt. Our temple, Christ Jesus, died and was resurrected on the third day. He is alive today and He tells us we will not know when the end is near. No matter what we see in the sky, no matter what people tell us, we DO NOT know! But we will when He ordains it. Are you ready for the end?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you gave us the temple of your Son, who could not be destroyed. May I never bow to another or believe what another says. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

The Lord comes to judge the earth.

When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”

Jesus wants us to give from the heart, not from the surplus of our pockets. He does not need all your money, He needs you willing to give all you have. What do you give to the Lord? Are you willing to give more?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know I do not give enough, help me to see where I can do more and honor you better. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.

Pilate said to Jesus, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?” Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here.” So Pilate said to him, “Then you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

Christ did not need to proclaim who He was. He knew who He was, and He knew that His life would save the world. He is the King of Glory; the King of the Universe and He should be the King of your life. Is He? Does He reign in your heart? That is where He wants to be, so be sure He is.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the King of my heart, my soul and my life. Thank you for the gifts you have given to me, may I use them for your glory. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

The LORD is king; he is robed in majesty.

Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, came forward and put this question to Jesus, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us, If someone’s brother dies leaving a wife but no child, his brother must take the wife and raise up descendants for his brother. Now there were seven brothers; the first married a woman but died childless. Then the second and the third married her, and likewise all the seven died childless. Finally the woman also died. Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be? For all seven had been married to her.” Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry and remarry; but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise. That the dead will rise even Moses made known in the passage about the bush, when he called ‘Lord’ the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; and he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.” Some of the scribes said in reply, “Teacher, you have answered well.” And they no longer dared to ask him anything.

He is not the God of the dead but the living. All who die in God, are alive in Heaven. The Communion of Saints makes up all of us, here on earth and those in heaven. Do you believe that those who died here are alive in Heaven, that we can ask for their intercession? You should, they can and do.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us the privilege of interceding for all who ask for prayer, Amen.

Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!
