An argument arose among the disciples about which of them was the greatest. Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child and placed it by his side and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.”
Then John said in reply, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow in our company.” Jesus said to him, “Do not prevent him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”
It is so hard to be child-like, but it is easy to want to be the first, most important, the leader of everything. That is not want Christ wants from us. He wants our humility, He wants us to be small and He wants us to give Him our all. He washed the feet of His Apostles, that is the kind of humility He wants from us. Are you willing? Can you give up the limelight and let only Him shine through? It is what he wants.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, putting you first in my life is not always easy, but with your grace, love and guidance I will remember. In Jesus’ holy name, I give you thanks and praise, Amen!
Incline your ear to me and hear my word.
