Jesus’ father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
Mary carried this all in her heart as she and Joseph raised Jesus. Imagine her pain when she saw her baby boy and knew all that would happen. Imagine her sorrow when she stood at the foot of the cross. Mary is our model to follow in times of trouble and heart ache in our lives.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of Mary as the mother of your Son. She guides me, helps me when I am suffering and brings me comfort and healing. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
To you, Lord, I will offer a sacrifice of praise.
