As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
He came to call us! The sinners of this world, the ones who need forgiveness and when we find Jesus, we know He will redeem us! We do not have to be perfect to come to Jesus, just needy and wanting His love, mercy, and forgiveness. Have you come to Him? Have you asked for all He has to give you? What are you waiting for? He is waiting for you, so hurry to Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, your forgiveness brought me home to your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ holy name, I give you thanks and praise, Amen!
One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
