After Jesus had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He entered and reclined at table to eat. The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal. The Lord said to him, “Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil. You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.”
What does this mean for us? Do you act like you love the Lord, follow Him and read Scripture, but inside know that you are only doing it to look holy? Are you as clean on the inside, as clean as you try to make yourself appear? Look inside and know that the Lord sees all.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I do try so hard to live what I preach, but sometimes I fall astray and do not do what I say. Help me in these times Lord, to stay on your path, do and say as I know you want me. In Jesus’ holy name I ask for your grace and mercy, Amen.
Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
