Hear this, you who trample upon the needy and destroy the poor of the land! “When will the new moon be over,” you ask, “that we may sell our grain, and the sabbath, that we may display the wheat? We will diminish the ephah, add to the shekel, and fix our scales for cheating! We will buy the lowly for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals; even the refuse of the wheat we will sell!” The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Never will I forget a thing they have done!
The Lord sees what we have done. When we pass by the poor and needy, He sees it. When we cheat, especially those who have little or nothing, He sees it. When we refuse to help those in our community who cannot help themselves, He sees it. Do you put your time and money where your mouth is? It is easy to talk about honesty and fair play, but do you do something about it? He sees what you do and knows the truth.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to see you in those I pass on the street. Let me not be blind to the true needs of those I see and give help and comfort to those who need it the most. Help me to see as you see. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Praise the Lord who lifts up the poor, Alleluia!
