The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.
When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
“Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.” She knew what was coming. She knew the child she gave birth to was destined to be the Savior of the world. She had been schooled in Scripture and knew that what the prophets foretold was being fulfilled in her. We give her glory as the Mother of God, the first Apostle of Jesus and the one that continues to appear and bring us back to her Son, Jesus. If Jesus is your brother, you must honor Mary as your mother.
Prayer: Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
May God bless us in his mercy.
