Jesus said to his disciples: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
If we build strong roots in the Lord, we will be able to withstand the trials and struggles the world sends our way. Where have you planted your roots? Deep in the word of God or shallow in the world? How will you withstand the trials of the world if not with the Lord?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, my roots are firmly planted within you and your word. Help to withstand the temptations of the world. I know that if I allow the world to distract me I will be like the fool who builds his house on sand. In Jesus’ holy name I ask for the strength to ignore the pull of the world, Amen.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Alleluia!
