Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.
Herod “kept trying to see him.” The Him was Jesus. He continued looking because inside all of us is a hunger and thirst to see God. We search for Him and sometimes in all the wrong places. We try to find something that will fill that emptiness that only God can fill. Are you searching? Look for Him in His word. If you seek, you will find Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, you searched my heart and I found you. The whole in my heart could only be filled by you, thank you for filling my heart. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
The Lord takes delight in his people.
