As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
Jesus came because we need Him. We need Him to heal our hurts, to heal our sins, to heal the lack of love in our lives. He brings joy, love and grace into our lives – if we just let Him. How often do you open your heart and life to Him? How often do you let Him help you with your problems? How often do you give your problems to Him? He came to heal you – let Him. Do you want freedom? Let Jesus in – He will save your life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for setting me free, for healing me and bringing me to you. Your grace has saved me and your love has filled me with joy. In Jesus’ holy name I praise you! Amen.
Their message goes out through all the earth.
