Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum:

Will you be exalted to heaven?

You will go down to the netherworld.

For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

What do you think Jesus is saying to us now? We have had so many opportunities in this country to follow the word of God, to do His work and help all of God’s people. But we have perverted His word, taken for granted the blessings He has given us and misused His gifts. Where do you stand? With God or the world? “Will you be exalted to heaven?” or “You will go down to the netherworld.” The choice is yours.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I stand with you against the world. For many years I too misused your gifts and ignored your word. But, through your grace and blessings I found my way home to you. In Jesus’ holy name I praise you, Amen!

Turn to the Lord in your need, and you will live.
