Jesus summoned his Twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness. The names of the Twelve Apostles are these: first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus; Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus.
Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus, “Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Do you ever wonder why Matthew mentions Judas as the betrayer of Christ? It may be that he wants us to know and remember that Judas was chosen by Christ Himself, yet he betrayed Him. What hope for us. Christ chooses us and gives us His authority, even when He knows we will fall down, betray Him and fail. Do not do as Judas did, he did not believe in Christ’s mercy. Take advantage of His forgiveness and come home.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for being there for me, taking me back and blessing my life with love, joy and happiness. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
