This is what John the Baptist proclaimed: “One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Jesus was shown to be the Son of God when the Heavens opened. He fulfilled the words of John – the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit. Have you been baptized by the Holy Spirit? If you have received your Sacraments in the Church you have, but what have you done with them? Have you been open to the gifts that Our Lord has given you? If you have not, you are not doing the will of the Lord. Allow yourself to become filled with the love, joy and strength of the Lord, then you can put those gifts to work for Him. He is just waiting for you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Your presence in my life has filled me with joy, wonder and the strength to do your will. I praise you in Jesus’ holy name!
You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.
