Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”
Mary is more interested in listening to the words of Jesus than the mundane things of life. The Lord is telling Martha that it is okay, that what she chose is best for her. Have you chosen what is best for you or do you let others pull you away? Sitting at Jesus’ feet is very important to our life. If you do not do it, you are not being who God intends you to be.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I try very hard to follow where you lead me. Help me to always listen to you and not to the voice of the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way
