When the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there, but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?” Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village.
Jesus rebuked them for wanting to destroy those who did not believe in Him. Do you think He would rebuke those today who do the same thing? How often do we criticize those who do not believe as we do? Are you as gentle as Jesus when you meet someone who believes differently than you? Or do you belittle them and criticize them, assuming your way is the best way? That is the time to truly think “What Would Jesus Do” and do it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, may I always be humble in dealing with those who do not believe as I do. May I always act as you do and treat them with love. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Let my prayer come before you, Lord.

War broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it.
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have salvation and power come, and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Anointed. For the accuser of our brothers is cast out, who accuses them before our God day and night. They conquered him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; love for life did not deter them from death. Therefore, rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them.”
We know there is a hell because Michael and his angels sent satan and his minions there! They fought for Christ, they fought to ensure that salvation came to us through the Blood of the Lamb. We are called to rejoice the victory and the grace and blessings that we receive because the Archangels won.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, you have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth. Saint Michael is our protector, I ask him to come to my aid, fight for all my loved ones, and protect us from danger. Saint Gabriel is a messenger for the Good News, I ask him to help me clearly, hear your voice and to teach me the truth. Saint Raphael is the healing angel, I ask him to take my need for healing and that of everyone I know, lift it up to your throne of grace and deliver back to us the gift of recovery. Help us O Lord to realize more fully the reality of the Archangels and their desire to serve us. Holy Angels pray for us.
In the sight of the angels I will sing your praises, Lord

Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He said in reply, ‘I will not,’ but afterwards changed his mind and went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir, ‘but did not go. Which of the two did his father’s will?” They answered, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him.”
Jesus came for the sinners, the ones who knew they were sinners. The self-righteous could not see Him for who He was. Do you? Do you believe He came for you? Do you believe?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for my belief, for the gift that you have given to me of faith and trust in you. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Remember your mercies, O Lord.

While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
Still today people do not understand what Jesus is saying. Not because it is hidden from them but because they refuse to listen. They refuse to believe the truth He spoke then and that it is still true today. Do you refuse to listen? Do you refuse to believe what He says? Why? Is it too hard? Do you think you have to give up too much? Whatever you give up for Him will be replaced 100 times over. Have faith, give your life to Him and see how joyful your life becomes.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for all that you have done for me. Help me to have never lose faith in all you say and do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’” Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.” He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
Once again Jesus asks “who do you say that I am?” He wants us to each answer this question, openly and honestly. We need to identify who He is for us so that we can tell the world who He is. He was not ready yet in this passage for the world to know who He is – it was not His time yet. But now we must be ready to tell the world. Ready to reveal who He is to us and tell the world what He has done for us. Do not hesitate, He will give you the words.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the courage and strength to share your message with the world. More than ever, we need you Lord help me to tell my story, in Jesus’ name, Amen
Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!

Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.
Do you know who Jesus is? Are you distracted by what others say about Him? Do you honestly seek Him or depend on who others say He is? Keep searching, if you honestly seek Him, you will find Him. Do not listen to others, listen to your heart and hear the words He speaks.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I open my heart to you, earnestly seeking your truth. May I never be distracted by others, by promises made and not kept. You are the way, the truth and the life and my safe refuge. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.
We too are being sent out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and with the same powers He gave to the Twelve. How often do you proclaim the Word of God to others? Do you believe you have those same powers? If you are His disciple you must do as He has directed. Our rewards should not be of this world, but of His world, the heavenly kingdom that we proclaim. Which world will you serve?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the words I need to proclaim your word and to use the powers that you have given to me. I want to serve you and not this world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.
