5-31-2014 Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Gospel Lk 1:39-56

Visitation 2

Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said,

“Most blessed are you among women,

and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

And how does this happen to me,

that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,

the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

Blessed are you who believed

that what was spoken to you by the Lord

would be fulfilled.”

And Mary said:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:

the Almighty has done great things for me,

and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him

in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,

he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,

and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,

and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel

for he has remembered his promise of mercy,

the promise he made to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children forever.”

Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

John in the womb of Elizabeth recognized Jesus from the sound of Mary’s voice. Elizabeth recognized Jesus when “the baby in her womb leaped for joy”. Do you recognize Jesus when you hear Him? You hear Him when you read the word of God, you hear Him when you sit and listen for His voice, but do you really hear what He says?  Mary answered the Holy Spirit’s call when she went to help Elizabeth, do you answer His call? If you listen as Mary and Elizabeth did, you too will know the voice of the Lord. Is it time you listened?

Prayer: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.

Among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world. So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.”

Did you find Jesus in your grief, in your struggles, in the sorrow that pierced your heart? If so, you will find the joy of knowing Him as that pain diminishes. And once you have gone through this grief, you will know how much your are loved and you will be filled with a joy that will go on forever. A joy that knows no bounds and no one can take it from you. Seek and you will find this joy. Give your grief and sorrow to Him and be healed. Find your joy!!!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the trials and struggles I went through so that I would know the true joy of knowing you. You gave me the love I needed and replaced my sorrow with joy! May all who are grieving find this joy, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

God is king of all the earth, Alleluia!

Jesus said to his disciples: “A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me.” So some of his disciples said to one another, “What does this mean that he is saying to us, ‘A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?” So they said, “What is this ‘little while’ of which he speaks? We do not know what he means.” Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Are you discussing with one another what I said, ‘A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me’? Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.”

They were with Him for so long but still did not understand when He talked about dying and rising again. Sometimes it is hard for us to understand what He is saying to us today, but we cannot give up. The more time we spend in His word the more we get to know who He is and what He is saying to us. How much time do you spend in the Bible? If you are like me, not enough and I need to change that. How about you?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to change my ways and spend more time in your word. Help me to grow and change under your loving guidance. In Jesus’ name I ask for this help, Amen.

The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power, Alleluia!

Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

In other words all that the Father has is ours. What an awesome gift we have been given. Do you listen when the Spirit of truth speaks? Do you hear what He says to you? Or are you afraid of the truth? Afraid of where He will lead you? Trust in the Lord, He has plans for you good, not your downfall. Do not be afraid of Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gifts you have given to me. I want all that you have for me Lord. Open my heart and my mind to the word the Spirit of Truth has for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Alleluia!

Jesus said to his disciples: “Now I am going to the one who sent me, and not one of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation: sin, because they do not believe in me; righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.”

He did send us the Advocate. He sent the One who would help us, support us and guide us after Jesus resurrected. He is here to convict us when we sin so that we keep on the path that God has set out for us. If you do not open your heart, mind and soul to Him, you will follow the one who is condemned not the one who brings eternal salvation. It is your choice, choose wisely.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I praise you always because I allowed myself to be open to you and to His message. Keep me on the path of salvation Lord, so I may see you in eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your right hand saves me, O Lord, Alleluia!

5-26-2014 Memorial of Saint Philip Neri, Priest Gospel Jn 15:26-16:4a

Thank you to all who have fought and those who have died for the freedom that we have here in the United States of America. Your sacrifice and those of your family will always be remembered and appreciated by a grateful nation. God bless you and may God bless America.

Jesus said to his disciples: “When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

“I have told you this so that you may not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me. I have told you this so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you.”

There are many out there that do not know Him. They work daily to defile and profane the name of God by their deeds and their talk. How many times have you listened to those words? How many times have you believed them and joined them? If you have been with Him from the beginning you must remain strong in his word so that you may testify to the truth. Stand with Christ and you will have eternal life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may I always stand with you and speak your word. Forgive me Lord for the times I stray and help me to always know the difference. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Lord takes delight in his people, Alleluia!

Jesus said to his disciples: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”

We are never alone, He has promised to always be with us and to send an Advocate to help and sustain us. Do you feel alone? Do you feel like Christ has left you alone? Trust in His word. He sent to the Advocate to teach us and guide us. Open your heart and mind to Him and you will know the Father. If you know the Father, you know the Son and you will never be alone. Trust and believe.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for the love that you show us by never leaving us alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Let all the earth cry out to God with joy,  Alleluia!
