An argument arose among the disciples about which of them was the greatest. Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child and placed it by his side and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.”
Then John said in reply, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow in our company.” Jesus said to him, “Do not prevent him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”
Where do you stand? Are you for Christ or against Him? That stand will be important in your eternal judgment. Doing his work is what He asks of us – along with the faith of a child. Faith in Christ means that we must do His work. A child wants to do whatever the Father asks. Do you? What are you doing to further His kingdom? Many are suffering from lack of love, do you share the love of God with them? If not, why not? The Lord is calling you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to use my faith to help those of your children who need you most. May I have the courage and strength to share your Word to those in my life who are hurting. May I offer them your love and peace. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
The Lord will build up Zion again, and appear in all his glory.

But you, man of God, pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Compete well for the faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called when you made the noble confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for the noble confession, to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ that the blessed and only ruler will make manifest at the proper time, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal power. Amen.
“Compete well for the faith.” What does that mean to you? I believe and confess that Jesus is the Lord and my Lord, and that means I can’t just say the words and have eternal life. It means I must follow Christ and do the work He has set before me. We are all given gifts and talents and we must use them to further His kingdom. Are you actively using yours or are you a complacent believer? Do not wait on the sidelines any longer. “Compete well for the faith.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, may I have the strength and courage to do what you ask. Help me to understand my place in your kingdom and to use the gifts you have given to me for your greater glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Praise the Lord, my soul! Alleluia!

While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
How many times have we been afraid to ask God what He means? We either prefer to stay in the dark or we put our own interpretation on it. They saw what He could do, but they were still afraid. We know what happened, we know who He is and we are still afraid. Why? He loves us more than anyone ever can and He wants nothing more than for us to be close to Him, to understand Him and to listen. When will we learn? Why won’t we learn? What are we afraid of? His Love?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to turn to you for understanding, compassion and love. May I never try to go my own way, on my own. I know you want to always be with me, help me to always call on you. In Jesus’ name, Amen
The Lord will guard us as a shepherd guards his flock.

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’” Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.” He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
None of the people recognized Jesus for who He really was. Peter did, he knew who Jesus really was. He was divinely inspired and filled with the truth. Are you? He prayed with Jesus, He walked with Jesus, He talked with Jesus. Do you? You can and should. It will save your life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the saving graces you have bestowed upon us through your Son, Jesus Christ. May I never forget who you are and what you have one in my life. Amen.
Hope in God; I will praise him, my savior and my God.

Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.
Do you know who Jesus is? Can you say with certainty who He is too you? Do you keep trying to see Him? He is not far, read His word and you will find out who He is, you will find Him. Do not depend on others, find Him for yourself. Eternal life depends on it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to always you find when I seek you and to seek you when I need you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The Lord takes delight in his people.

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
Jesus is telling us to plant seeds. He wants us to depend totally on God for our every need. And, He wants us to live His word by showing the world that we need nothing but God, He will provide the rest. Are you ready to trust Him? If not, why not? Do not worry, God will not abandon you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that I will always have the strength to leave my possessions behind for you. May I be an example to those who do not believe and never let my trust in you waiver. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Blessed be God, who lives for ever.

The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”
Do you hear the word of God and act on it? Do you want to belong to Jesus’ family? Then this is the way – the only way. When we do as we have been instructed, we will be rejoicing in the house of the Lord. Do not wait, you do not know the time or the day when it will be too late.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to belong to your family always. Holy Spirit, help me to listen and do what is commanded that I may rejoice with God in His eternal Kingdom! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.
