Blessed Are You 2  Visitation

 Link to today’s readings:

Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”

And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.  He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.”

Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

Do you recognize the voice of God when He speaks? Does your heart quicken? Do you recognize Mary as the Mother of God? Why not? Even in the womb John knew His Lord. Are you attuned to Him? Open your heart and your mind so when you hear His voice your heart will also leap. Be like Mary and acknowledge what God has done for you. Do you even know what He has done? Why not?

Prayer: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,  and at the hour of death. Amen.

Among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.

 Annunciation 2

 Blessed are you 3

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.”  And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me.” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.” He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, ‘Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

Do you have the faith of the blind man that your desire will be granted? Have you ever just asked Jesus for what you want? Do you believe that if you do it will be granted? Ask in faith and Jesus will say to you ‘Go your way; your faith has saved you.” And, if it will not interfere with your salvation, your desire will be granted. Believe as he did.

Prayer: Heavenly Father my faith is small and it is a daily struggle to maintain what I do have. Help me Lord in my unbelief and Holy Spirit help me build the faith I need to stand strong when you call on me. The faith Our Holy Mother has.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made.

Blessed are you 3

The disciples were on the way, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went ahead of them. They were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. Taking the Twelve aside again, he began to tell them what was going to happen to him. “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles who will mock him, spit upon him, scourge him, and put him to death, but after three days he will rise.” Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus and said to him, ‘Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” He replied, ‘What do you wish me to do for you?” They answered him, “Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left.” Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the chalice that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” They said to him, ‘We can.” Jesus said to them, “The chalice that I drink, you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared.” When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John. Jesus summoned them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt. But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

They didn’t seem to hear what Jesus was saying. He told them of His death and they were worried about their place in heaven. How often do we not hear what Jesus is saying to us but only concerned with what we want? Do you take time to listen to the voice of God? If you hear it are you more concerned on how it will benefit you? What are you afraid of? Why do hide from His voice?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that when I hear your voice I listen to what you are saying and not try to hide from your truth. Your words are the words of everlasting life. Thank you Father for the truth you proclaim and the guidance you give us. Amen.

Show us, O Lord, the light of your kindness.

 Mary and JesusHail Mary 4

Peter began to say to Jesus, ‘We have given up everything and followed you.” Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first.”

Whatever you give up in faith will be rewarded a hundred fold by our Lord. He will not let you go without what you need, if you just trust in Him. He will always give generously if we give faithfully. Be humble, give much and the rewards will be endless. Are you afraid to give? Afraid to be last? Why? What can you possibly have that is greater than what God will give you?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know how generously you give to those in need. Many times I have placed my trust in you and you have never failed me. Help me to always remember those times, so that I may never be afraid to give you what you ask of me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

To the upright I will show the saving power of God.

Holy Mary

To the penitent God provides a way back, he encourages those who are losing hope and has chosen for them the lot of truth. Return to him and give up sin, pray to the LORD and make your offenses few. Turn again to the Most High and away from your sin, hate intensely what he loathes, and know the justice and judgments of God, Stand firm in the way set before you, in prayer to the Most High God.

Who in the nether world can glorify the Most High in place of the living who offer their praise? Dwell no longer in the error of the ungodly, but offer your praise before death. No more can the dead give praise than those who have never lived; You who are alive and well shall praise and glorify God in his mercies. How great the mercy of the LORD, his forgiveness of those who return to him!

We have a beautiful sacrament in reconciliation. Do you chose to receive the hope and mercy that is given to you through it? Today we are hit from all sides from the world with the things that are ungodly, the things that He loathes. Praise Him with your soul and praise Him with your heart, glorify His name for all the grace and mercy He bestows upon you. What is more important? What the world offers while you are here? Or eternal life? Only you can make that choice.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gifts and graces you have given to us. We are a people in need of your forgiveness and mercy. Help us to always stand for you and turn away from the sin of the world. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen

Let the just exult and rejoice in the Lord.

5-26-2013 The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Gospel Jn 16:12-15

Holy Spirit 2

 Link to today’s readings:

Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

Do you listen when the Holy Spirit speaks? Do you allow yourself to be guided by the truth that comes from God? Jesus tells us that the message He has comes from the Father. Why would you not listen? Why do you ignore the message that is for you from Jesus? Listen to what the Holy Spirit tells you, as that comes directly from God.

Prayer: Come Holy Spirit and fill us with the power of your love. Lead us to the way of life that Jesus wants for us. Keep us on the path of Our Father so we remain in Him and He in us. In Jesus’ name we ask all this!

O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth!

5-25-2013 Gospel Mk 10:13-16

Hail Marymary-mother-of-god

 Link to today’s readings:

People were bringing children to Jesus that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” Then he embraced the children and blessed them, placing his hands on them.

What does the world say to this statement? Jesus embraced the children, our world murders them. How will we answer for that? Have you become like a child to allow God into your heart? Are you filled with wonder and awe or do you turn away the children? It’s your choice, which do you choose?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray the world accepts your teachings on the value of children and puts and end to abortion. I pray for the conversion of the hearts and minds of those involved that they may turn to you and not continue as they go. May every person see the value of children as you do. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

The Lord’s kindness is everlasting to those who fear him.
